Our Movie Theatre

We decided to change our kitchen.  We thought about many things we could do.  Some of our ideas were: castle, museum, barn, library, movie theatre, train station, shopping mall and party place.  We voted and decided to make a movie theatre.  Next, we had to think about what was in a movie theatre and we made a list of materials that we needed.  Everyone brought things that we could use such as: 3D glasses, cups and popcorn bags.  We made a movie screen out of cardboard.  We put the chairs in rows and wrote numbers on the back.  We also made movie tickets.  Then we were ready for the show!!

First, we go to the ticket booth and pay for our ticket.

Next, we get our popcorn and drink.

Then, you get your ticket checked and sit in your seat.

Apples!!!

Last week, we learned so much about apples and did many apple activities.  We learned that apples come in three different colours: red, yellow and green.  We all brought an apple to school and we made an apple graph.  Red apples were the most popular!!!

Today we had a nice day at school.  We picked our class names.  Ms. Watts' class are the "Kittens" and Mrs. Fogel's class are the "Horses".

Centres

We started learning centres.  Today we did 4 centres.  They were play dough names, crayon colour sorting, tactile "S" with a snake, and working with Ms. Remple.  It was good!  Here are some pictures of us getting smarter!

Terry Fox Run

On Friday, our school participated in the Terry Fox Run. The kinders kept track of their laps by collecting stickers every time they passed the teacher. Thank you to everyone who was able to make a donation and congratulations to our runners on a job well done!

Explore Some More

Explore Some More is a chance for students to do hands on activities and experiments with a variety of materials.  This is the chance to try new things and take control of their learning.  If they discover something on their own, it will mean more and make a lasting memory.   Explore Some More happens 4 days a week and is sure to be one your child's favourite parts of Kindergarten!

1.     Practice printing upper and lower case letters

2.     Write whenever the opportunity arises (journaling on holidays, notes to friends, shopping lists, etc.)

3.     Count forwards and backwards as high as they can go

4.     Read, read, read J

Some Important Dates to Remember

           

            Monday, June 23^rd – Teddy Bear’s Picnic (bring teddy bears to school)

            Tuesday, June 24^th – Celebration of Learning (K & 1 at 9:00am in the library)

Wednesday, June 25^th – Jelly Bean Tabloid (postponed from last Friday)

            Thursday, June 26^th – (There is NO year end assembly)

  - Kindergarten year-end party in the afternoon

                                                  - Last day of school before summer break

            Friday, June 27^th – No School (Inservice)

Important Information

1.    We will be having a teddy bear’s picnic on Monday, June 23^rd.  We will be having our lunch outside altogether.  Students are encouraged to bring a teddy bear for the day and a lunch that does not need to be heated.

2.    Our Celebration of Learning will take place on Tuesday, June 24^th from 9:00am– 10:00am.  This is a chance to celebrate your child’s accomplishments in Kindergarten.  We hope to see everyone there!!

3.    On Thursday, June 26^th in the afternoon, we will be having our year-end party for all the kindergarten students.  They have voted on the snack (chips) and we will be watching the movie “Frozen”.  Most of the students have seen it already, but if you are not familiar, we have attached a link for you to get a better idea of what the movie is about.  If you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us no later than Tuesday, June 24^th.
