Some Important Dates to Remember

Important Information

1.     Our gymnastics program is coming to an end, as we only have two more weeks of regular gymnastics left.  On Monday, March 18th, we will NOT be having our regular club after school, but instead will be having an evening
performance for all families at 6:00pm.
Parents are asked to have their children at the school by 5:45 so we can prepare for the performance.  Students will have the opportunity to show you what they have learned in the 8-week program!!  We will not be giving out tickets for this event, but rather, if you could please email Ms. Watts (bwatts@sjsd.net) and let her know how many people will be attending the evening performance, we will make sure there are enough chairs for everyone!  Thanks and we can’t wait to share with you what we have learned!!!!  J

With Your Child This Week

1.     Practice counting back from 10 to 0, and up to 20 starting at various numbers
2.     Find things around your home that begin with the letter N
3.     Ask about using the oil pastels
4.     Ask about the best part of “Buddy Play”


What we did this week at school

*Made tactile N with noodles
* Did “I like” writing
*Had more guest readers
*Worked with the wikki stix
* Had “Buddy Play” with the 2/3’s
*Watched a colour movie
* Made a winter tree with oil pastels

Important Information


1.     Wednesday, February 27th is “Pink Shirt Day”. Students and staff are encouraged to wear pink to stand up against bullying.
2.     As we mentioned last week, the second annual “Read-In Breakfast” will be on Thursday between 8am and 9:30am.  Families (all members, and ages) are encouraged to come in their pajamas, find a comfy spot in the library and read some books together.  There will be complimentary coffee, muffins and juice.  This is a drop in event and we would love to see you for any amount of time that you are able to join us.

Valentine's and 100 Day Party!

On Friday, February 15th, the Kinders had their annual Valentine's and 100 Day party!  Thanks so much to all of the parents who helped run a centre and who donated snacks.  
We could not do these wonderful activities without you!

3.     Read a book about Canada or by a Canadian author to celebrate I Love To Read Month!
4.     Practice singing our colour songs

Important Information

1.     Next week is the last week of our colour unit!!  Monday February 11th - BLACK day.  Wednesday, February 13th – WHITE day.  Thursday, February 14th – PINK day.  Friday, February 15th – Wear your FAVOURITE colour day!  We are also asking for a colour snack donation for this day.  It only needs to be enough for one class (20 students) & something as simple as a box of crackers! 
Please let us know if you would like to contribute.

2.     On Friday, February 15th, we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day and 100 Day with an afternoon celebration.  WE STILL DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS!  Remember that you do not have to have a completed criminal record check to help us out, and we would welcome any grandparents or aunts and uncles that would like to come.  Volunteers are asked to be here at 12:45 and will be finished at 3:20.  If you can help us out, either by volunteering your time or sending in a snack, please email or send a note as soon as possible.
3.     Valentine’s Day is coming up.  For invitations, please have your child sign the bottom of the card and you may address it to “my friend”.  This makes for smooth delivery of the invitations!  We will be handing them out on Thursday afternoon.  There are 19 children in each class, but you only have to do enough for your child’s class!
