TWAS, May 31st, 2013


With Your Child This Week

1.     Talk about our paper experiment
2.     Ask your child to draw a map of your house
3.     Have your child tell you three needs and wants
4.     Ask your child to explain how they made their marker holder

What we did this week at school

*Talked about maps and made our own!
*Did tactile X with xylophone
*Worked in our Growth Books
*Made word family words with play dough
*Made a spring tree with plasticine
*Talked about different kinds of paper and did a paper experiment
*Talked about needs and wants
*Made a marker holder with different kinds of paper
*Worked on a book for Baby Maelle & Baby Zoe
*Got tadpoles

Important Information


Our field trip is coming up on Friday, June 7th.  Please send in all money and forms on Monday, June 3rd.  We are still looking for two volunteers to come with us.  If you are interested, please let us know via e-mail before the weekend.

Children's Museum

On Friday, May 10th, we went to the Children's Museum.  We learned about and made our own paper and had time to play.  The best part of our trip was "everything"!!!!

We had so much fun that some of us fell asleep on the bus ride home!

TWAS, May 24, 2013


With Your Child This Week

1.     Talk about what to do when you get lost in a store
2.     Ask your child about some different kinds of paper
3.     Have your child tell you a story about “how to” do something using the words: first, next and last
4.     Find 3D objects around you!


What we did this week at school

*Did some “how to” writing using the words first, next and last
*Did some writing around the room
*Started setting up our space centres
*Talked about the different kinds of paper
*Worked on the SmartBoard
*Mrs. Lauder talked to us about what to do when you get lost in a store
*Had math centres
*Played fine motor games

Tuesday, June 4th – Early dismissal at 2:55pm

Important Information


1.    Our last Kindergarten science unit is on Paper!  In the next couple of weeks, we will be experimenting with many kinds of paper and are looking for some paper donations.  We are looking for as many different kinds as we can get (poster paper, cardboard, newspaper, crepe and tissue, etc.).  We will be sorting the paper, ripping, cutting, crumpling and folding the paper, as well as making paper collages.  If you have any extra paper that you would be willing to donate, please send it to school on Monday.     THANKS!!  J
2.    Our field trip is coming up on Friday, June 7th.  We will be sending home the permission form for this trip on Wednesday & they will be due on Monday, June 3rd.  We are still looking for two volunteers to come with us.  If you are interested, please let us know.

4.     Talk about how we made the Mother’s Day gifts (after Sunday!!!!)


What we did this week at school

*Did tactile V with vines and violets
*Worked on the number 20
*Did bingo dapper 10 frames
*Had Lakewood Idol
*Went to the Children’s Museum
*Did domino parking lot
*Sorted 3-D objects by their characteristics (roll, slide, both)
*Played Tally Tally Clap!
*Printed the letter Vv
*Looked up some of our houses on Google Earth
